This is our 10 foot high back wall. And much rebar. Glad to be done with that part for now (still gotta do the floor, so I see more rebar in my future). We will be backfilling in behind, so this wall will be holding back a lot. That’s a lotta fill too. Which, strangely, reminds me of when I was young, looking out the window of the parent’s Cutlass Supreme driving to hang out with old Dutch people, and seeing signs for “Clean Fill Wanted.” I always pictured the scenario as a rental room and the landlords want a tenant named Phil who was tidy. I didn’t really think that of course, I was child making shit up, not an idiot.
Now, we are setting up the forms for the wall. I’m pretty tired of cutting and tying rebar, and have managed to give myself carpal tunnel syndrome. Kind of ironic that I’m getting it after leaving my desk job.
We should be ready to pour the walls by the end of the week. Just need to get the rebar inspected, then we button the other side of the forms on. Apparently, this is not a simple job. But not rebar for now.
