And so another year comes to a close. 2013 being one of the best of my life. What more could anyone want? Millions of visitors (well, over 50 in 2013, not including multiple visits). Check. Wicked hot summer. Check. Working on building our own house. Super-check.
Super-awesome wife. Check…..
Here are 13 photos to end out 2013. Covering everything leading up to pouring the floor slab. Hydronic heating system can be seen with the rebar. Happy warm feet in our basement’s future. Weather for the slab pour was perfect. Up until the trowelling was finished. Then it started to pour and dump water over the fresh pour. We covered with tarps and such to prevent the dripping water from pitting the concrete. Unfortunately, there are a couple spots where it is pitted, but that should disappear when we get the concrete ground down to get a polished floor. Dom, the concrete guy was cool to talk to and had some interesting suggestions for our concrete deck.
Happy 2014! Excited to be back to work tomorrow. Hoping Troy (neighbour, and excavator co. owner) will be there to start the backfilling. He tracked down 100 loads of good fill for us on the cheap so we can fill in that canyon behind our house.
